If you are hiring an individual Massachusetts-based provider to work directly with your child and he or she does not have a CORI or background check available to you, you may contact the Massachusetts government at http://www.mass.gov/chsb to learn how and whether it is appropriate to submit in writing a Public Access Request for that person. Alternatively, you may get an Instant Criminal Background Check through Intellius(prices as listed on their site). Another free starting point is www.familywatchdog.us
