Transitions- What helps?
Many of my clients(kids, teens and adults) with AD/HD, Asperger's Syndrome,and NLD have difficulty with transitions.
One of the techniques that I find works best, is to do a 3 minute mindfulness exercise prior to our session. We sit on a mat, and while I read the steps in a soothing voice, the client focuses on their breathing.
This simple activity appears to calm and prepare the client for settling down to work. And, it only takes 3 minutes!
