TutorUNetwork

Bio/Description:

The Tutor U Network (Tutor U) is a private tutoring company serving the Greater Boston area that employs exceptional undergraduate students as its tutoring staff. I came up with the idea for Tutor U after I began tutoring several families in the Wellesley area and kept being referred to new clients. I realized that I could expand my solitary tutoring services into a company by creating a network of other undergraduate tutors who serve the communities near their respective schools.

Tutor U has a unique model of service which differentiates it from other tutoring services. Tutor U provides its clients with in-home tutoring appointments which are conducted on a one-on-one basis. By providing in-home tutoring, Tutor U is able to save its clients time and money by eliminating the need for transportation to and from an office. Children learn best when material is presented in way which caters to their individual learning style. By having their undivided attention, tutors are more effectively able to decipher what teaching methods are most effective for the child and tailor their tutoring style to best address each child’s needs. This strategy allows for more focused tutoring and better academic results for the child. In addition, Tutor U offers very competitive pricing for one-on-one tutoring, as compared to its competitors’ prices.

Ways to monitor and measure success:

Tutor U believes that undergraduate students make the best tutors because they are not far removed from the lives of their clients. Undergraduate students have had years of experience taking courses and subjects in which their clients may be struggling, and as a result may be able to present new, creative approaches to tackling difficult concepts or material. This provides clients with a distinct advantage that other test-prep or tutoring services cannot provide. By having a tutor who remembers these exams, clients can learn real-life tips and tricks to help them conquer any exam. Being recent high school graduates, our tutors understand how to prepare for that dreaded teacher's test, form valuable study habits that work for each subject, and handle a heavy workload that would typically ruin an entire week.

Beyond academic assistance, Tutor U’s tutors serve as mentors to its clients, guiding students in a positive direction in all aspects of life. Tutor U insists that clients establish both weekly and long-term goals that include academic and nonacademic ambitions. Statistics show that students who set and work toward goals are more likely to realize their success and be driven in all aspects of life. Additionally, Tutor U holds “Back to School” workshops in several towns during the end of the summer in preparation for the new school year. One type of workshop is free of charge and helps students with basic study habits, and the other type of workshop is a reduced rate session that focuses on specific subjects of study, mainly standardized tests. Tutor U wants its clients to recognize their potential and eventually master these techniques to use on their own.

Tutor U wants your child to succeed and stand out among other students. Tutor U's goal is to teach itself out of a job! We want to do such a great job helping your child that he or she will no longer need Tutor U's assistance. Unlike our competitors who present your child with a transient relief from academic pressures, Tutor U prepares your child for academic success by building upon individual strengths and developing ways to combat his or her areas of difficulty.
