Boston Schools Brace for Cuts

Boston Public Schools will cut tens of millions of collars in spending for the next school year.

That's according to a story in The Boston Globe that attributes the move to revenue shortfalls.

The cuts appear in a preliminary budget that Superintendent Carol R. Johnson presented to the School Committee. Cuts include calls for freezing administrative salaries, turning down heat, and reducing custodial staff.

Also under consideration are potentially more controversial options such as school closings, reduced busing, furlough days, and pay cuts.
