Kids' Online Technology Use Very High

A study from the Kaiser Family Foundation suggests that the average young American, when not in school, spends practically every waking minute online.
This Kaiser Family Foundation study, reported in The New York Times in January, found that children aged 8 - 18 spend more than seven and a half hours a day using a smart phone, computer, television, or other electronic device. That statistic reportedly did not include the hour and a half youths spend texting or the half-hour they spend on cell phones.
The heavy use was found to be associated with behavioral problems and lower grades.
