Researchers Promote Young Children's Math Learning

Math is often neglected in early-learning settings.

That's the finding in a 2009 National Research Council report that was presented in a briefing on Capital Hill, according to Education Week.

The report stresses the importance of mathematics in early childhood and suggests a coordinated national early-childhood education initiative be put in place for children aged 3 - 6 years old.

But the report also notes that influencing early childhood education is very challenging.
