As a parent of a 12 year old dyslexic son with a double deficit learning disability I needed to hire an experienced and effective Wilson tutor that could demonstrate results and progress. I hired Kristin and she tutored our son four hours a week for eight weeks over the summer of 2009 using the Wilson Reading System. Kristin was thorough in understanding his current level of performance by talking with our educational consultant and reviewing his test results. In addition, she performed testing with him to determine the areas where he was really struggling. Kristin was detail oriented uncovering the specific sound combinations that were difficult for him and worked to teach him the rules and provide examples so he could practice, commit it to memory and demonstrate his knowledge. Kristin has a positive attitude and works well with children. Her animated approach makes it fun and memorable regarding the topic she is teaching. Kristin uses creative instruction with supplemental tools she has created herself and will try multiple approaches to reach a child.
Kristin is an effective tutor that produces results. She clearly communicates expectations and notes strengths to better improve the child's performance. Kristin took the time to map out my son's progress and show him how he was improving which helped to build his self confidence. Out of the many tutor's we have hired in the past five years, Kristin is the most effective. She is organized, dependable, reliable and communication was easy.
